Ever since I first read my first book by Stacey Halls (The Familiars!) I was completely hooked. She very quickly became one of my favourite authors ever. I wasn’t really a fan of historical romance when I started reading her books and now I love it, so even if you’re not sure about them I’d still give them a go! Now I want everyone to read them.
Here’s a quick guide to each book she has written!
The Foundling
Set in London 1754, 6 years after leaving her illegitimate daughter at London’s Foundling Hospital, Bess has returned to reclaim the child she has never known. Bess worries that something might have happened to her daughter while she was in their care but the last thing she expects to hear is that her daughter has already been claimed – by herself.
Less than a mile from where Bess lives, in a quiet gloomy townhouse a young widow hasn’t left her house in a decade. Despite her hesitancy, her close friend who is a doctor at the Foundling Hospital has persuaded her to hire a nursemaid for her daughter. The Familiars
A young noblewoman, Fleetwood Shuttleworth, is pregnant again. She’s had multiple previous pregnancies that have ended in miscarriage or stillbirth and she’s just discovered a note from her doctor telling her husband that she will not survive this pregnancy.
She then meets Alice, a midwife who promises to be able to help her deliver a healthy baby. But Alice is soon accused of witchcraft.

Mrs England

The Household
